Gaile Hughes is a naturopath who decided to make the ‘sea change’ to the Mornington Peninsula’s clean air and more relaxed lifestyle. After ten years of part time Peninsula living and commuting Gaile and her husband turned their beach house into a modern take on a Tuscany Villa with a purpose build clinic to set up her naturopathic practice in Sorrento.
A former lecturer in Iridology at both The Australian College of Natural Medicine (Burwood’s Deakin Campus) and the Southern School of Natural Therapies, Gaile combined teaching and the running her busy practice in Hampton. She also served as a member of the board for the Australian Naturopathic Practitioners Association in 2004.
Gaile explains that the modern naturopath in practice in Australia is trained in medical sciences and the modalities of herbalism, homeopathy, nutrition, iridology, counselling, massage and vitamin and mineral therapy. She says that naturopaths rely on medical science to understand the disease process and develop a natural approach for treating a patient.
